Algeria's participation in the Tourism and Travel Fair "FITUR Madrid" in the Spanish capital, Madrid
Within the framework of the National Tourism Office (ONT)’s work program for the first half of 2026, aimed at enhancing Algeria's tourism destinations in international markets, the tourism and traditional handicrafts sectors, through the National Tourism Office (ONT), accompanied by a number of tourism operators, will participate in the 46th edition of the International Tourism and Travel Fair "FITUR Madrid," scheduled to take place in Madrid, Spain, from January 21 to 25, 2026.
This participation aims to enhance Algeria's presence and confirm its participation in tourism events and international forums, to introduce and promote Algeria's tourist destinations, highlight their diversity and natural and cultural richness.
It should be noted that Spain is one of Algeria's traditional and significant tourist markets, given the continuous rise in the number of Spanish tourists choosing Algeria as a distinctive destination, as well as the presence of a notable Algerian community residing in Spain, offering direct interaction opportunities and encouraging them to consider Algeria as their preferred travel destination.
The FITUR Madrid fair ranks among the top ten international tourism events and is classified as the second-largest global tourism fair after the Berlin fair in Germany. Its previous edition achieved remarkable success, attracting approximately 255,000 visitors and featuring participation from 156 countries, including 101 countries represented officially through government agencies and institutions, alongside more than 9,500 exhibiting companies.
To highlight Algeria's tourism image and enable Algerian tourism operators to carry out their various promotional, communicative, and marketing activities, the National Tourism Office has reserved a special display space, designed in an attractive style blending authenticity and modernity, featuring decorations and posters highlighting key Algerian tourist landmarks, especially those capable of attracting Spanish tourists, particularly the unique natural and cultural assets of southern Algeria.
The contacts will also be intensified, and working relationships and partnerships will be established with foreign tourism operators participating in the fair, as well as with international media present to cover the event, by providing them with various information and materials aimed at promoting Algeria's tourism destination at both regional and international levels.
A range of promotional videos and images will also be displayed, and media and marketing materials will be distributed to visitors of the Algerian Pavilion, enabling them to learn about the unique features and advantages of Algeria's tourist regions, as well as virtual tours using 3D technology that allows visitors to explore several distinguished tourist sites.
To add more vitality to the Algerian Pavilion, a number of traditional artisans in the field of artistic handicrafts will participate by showcasing authentic Algerian artistic and craft products that reflect the richness of the nation's cultural heritage.
