18 May 2026 | World Museum Day
The world is celebrating May 18, 2026, as World Museum Day, an event organized by the International Council of Museums since 1977, aimed at highlighting the cultural and civic role of museums in preserving human heritage and promoting dialogue among peoples and cultures.
This year's slogan is: "Museums for uniting a divided world," underscoring the importance of these cultural institutions in fostering values of coexistence, peace, and openness to the other.
Museums are not merely spaces for displaying archaeological artifacts; they are living memories preserving the histories of civilizations, bridges connecting the past to the present, and opportunities for generations to discover their identity and safeguard cultural and human heritage.
