The Exploratory Trip to the Mandated Province of Messaad

The exploratory journey continued on day two of the delegation's visit to Messaad, with the delegation carrying out several visits, including:

Opening of the Tourism and Handicrafts Pavilion organized at the Workshop of Crafts, in commemoration of World Tourism Day, under the supervision of Ms. Amine, the Deputy Governor of the Region, Messaad Melh, who emphasized the importance of valuing and supporting artisans and craftswomen, especially in the field of textiles, including the Berneos and Tassili crafts made from wool, which are renowned for their production in the region, as well as the traditional Naiili attire.

This salon featured more than 50 participants, travel agencies, and tourism activists in a lively and fantastical atmosphere.

A visit to Castellum Dimmidi, a Roman city founded during the reign of Emperor Severus Caesar. The settlement consisted of a fortress near Fosatom Afrika, the southern border of the province of Numidia. It was a thriving village that hosted a Roman garrison (from the "III Legio Augusta") from around 198 to 240 AD.

A visit to the city of Umoura, a tourist destination and an archaeological city, whose ancient village dates back to thousands of years, is surrounded by orange, almond, fig, and grape groves. Their ingenuity is evident in the traditional irrigation system used by farmers, a tangible heritage that closely resembles the "foggara" system.

An increase in the most beautiful natural and historical site, which is Al-Umra Waterfall, a stunning location attracting visitors from all over the country, especially since its waters continuously flow throughout the year. In addition to Roman ruins, rock carvings, and the enigmatic caves and caverns, which date back to an ancient era, marking a significant part of early human history.

Several agricultural investors from Messaad have allowed the delegation to learn about the unique characteristics of the Messaad fig and lemon, which are considered among the finest fruits. The Tourism and Handicrafts Directorate aims to establish a special national day dedicated to lemons to preserve this product and to turn the event into a distinguished tourism occasion.

Through this visit and the discovery of the tourism assets of the wilaya, specific tourism routes for the designated wilaya will be introduced in order to promote domestic tourism and promote new destinations tied to Saharan tourism season.
