After welcoming Ms. Nisime Ahrab, Minister of Training and Vocational Education, and her accompanying delegation, Madam Minister highly praised the efforts made by stakeholders from both sectors to implement the agreement, as well as all administrative and pedagogical teams within the Training and Vocational Education sector, which have yielded several high-quality initiatives in the field of #Training, targeting the development of key actors in the #Tourism sector, such as tourism guides and artisans, thereby enhancing and improving the professional level of workers and tourism operators, and the quality of services.
It also confirmed that this agreement falls within the initiatives of the #MinistryOfTourismAndHandicrafts in collaboration with the #MinistryOfTrainingAndVocationalEducation, aimed at organizing professions and valuing human resources in alignment with labor market needs, within the framework of the national economic strategy for diversifying the economy and creating employment opportunities, as part of the Government's 2026-2028 plan focused on training professionals and active agents in the tourism sector, improving service quality, and enhancing the attractiveness of the #AlgerianTouristDestination.
It also highlighted that training aims at equipping human resources capable of providing high-quality tourism services, improving the management of tourism institutions, promoting sustainability, integrating technology and innovation, modernizing the tourism sector and digitizing its institutions, thereby advancing #DigitalTransformation and supporting smart promotion of Algeria's tourism destinations.
On its part, Ms. Nisime Ahrab, Minister of Training and Vocational Education, stated that the results achieved during this six-month period enabled the two sectors to address the situation of a significant group of #TourismGuides, while also training artisans, considering them as ambassadors of the destination and the national heritage, and emphasized her sector's readiness to strengthen cooperation by organizing new training programs for artisans, particularly in the following fields:
Digital promotion and marketing of traditional handicrafts through electronic platforms.
Professional photography of handicraft products to enhance their presentation and promote their digital marketing.
Developing various specialties related to digital transformation and modern marketing.
Enhancing communication skills, particularly in English, to meet the requirements of opening up to domestic and international markets.
This cooperation takes place within a shared vision aimed at enhancing artisans' skills, promoting traditional products, and supporting the sustainability of craft activities, considering them a key economic and cultural asset.
As Ms. Minister of Training and Vocational Education emphasized, ensuring a qualified workforce for the tourism and handicrafts sectors represents a priority, given its contribution to supporting local investment and aligning with the economic dynamics of tourism hubs, while working to align pedagogical programs with labor market demands, modernizing specializations, and expanding national and international partnerships.
During the presentation by the Director of Training and highlighting human resources, the key stages of the implementation of the cooperation between the two sectors were reviewed, starting from the signing of the Framework Agreement for Partnership and Cooperation on November 10, 2025, followed by the Cooperation Protocol concerning the status of unaccredited tourism guides on January 6, 2026, and the establishment of the Joint Committee responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Agreement.
Three major operations were carried out during the first six months of the current year:
The official launch of the National Training Cycle for Tourist Guides in the Illizi and Djanet provinces on February 14 and 15, 2026, followed by the rollout of the program across all vocational training institutes and centers, where as of now, 4,000 unlicensed tourist guides have been recorded, with the status of some having been resolved, while the process continues.
Organizing a training cycle for #1200Letters across 58 provinces, with 20 letters per province over ten days, from 19 to 30 April 2026, alongside training 900 tourism agency managers and hotel industry representatives.
Organizing a training cycle for the coordinators of training schools and improving the level of traditional handicrafts and artisan workshops, involving 59 coordinators, from June 21 to 24, 2026, at the regional training and vocational education institutes in Medea, Sétif, and Sidi Bel Abbès.
A proposal was also presented for training in specialized tourist guide, hotel and catering, artisan training, and thermal tourism, with a focus on #Digitization and languages. Ms. Minister of Training and Vocational Education expressed her readiness to accompany all operations related to the tourism and handicrafts sectors.
On its part, Ms. Director of Media and Statistics presented a report on the progress of #TheDigitalPlatform for the tourist guide, which will be interactive with the training and vocational education sectors. Ms. Minister of Tourism and Traditional Crafts emphasized the urgency of completing it in the near future for its official launch, ensuring an efficient and modern management of tourist guide training.
At the close of the meeting, the two ministers emphasized the importance of joint sectoral cooperation, the need to continue coordination between the sectors, and the study of various training proposals in the fields of #Tourism, #TheHotel, and #Handicrafts, in order to ensure the protection and sustainability of national products.
