Awarding of the National Prize for Traditional Crafts and Artisanship for 2025

#MinisterOfTourismAndHandicrafts Ms. #MyHoorie presides over the ceremony for the distribution of "The National Award for Traditional Industries and Crafts" in its 23rd edition for 2025

In the framework of implementing the national policy aimed at promoting #TraditionalCraftsAndAlgerianArtisanship, encouraging creativity and innovation, and preserving the national cultural heritage, the #MinistryOfTourismAndHandicrafts organized, today Thursday, January 15,

2026, under the supervision of #MinisterOfTourismAndHandicrafts, Ms. #MyHoorie, the 20th edition of "The National Award for Traditional Industries and Crafts 2025", held at the Culture Palace - Zekriya in Algiers, in the presence of Mr. Minister of Economy, Knowledge, and Emerging and Small Institutions, Mr. President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council, Mr. President of the Culture, Communication, and Tourism Committee of the National Popular Assembly, members of the National Assembly and the National Popular Assembly, Ms. Administrator of the Administrative District of Hassen Dey, ministry staff and representatives of state institutions, and a distinguished group of #TheArtisans and #TheCarpenters from all over the country.

This includes the presence of a significant number of diplomatic personnel, including ambassadors and counselors from the embassies of the Tunisian Republic, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Palestine, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Vietnam, China, Italy, Russia, Brazil, and also "the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency - TICA" coordinator.

It is a significant occasion, during which Madam Minister affirmed that the sector's celebration of the National Award for Traditional Industries and Crafts reflects the Algerian State's recognition of the value of #TraditionalCraft and the pivotal role played by artisans and craftswomen in preserving #NationalCulturalHeritage, highlighting her commitment to supporting national talents and encouraging them through efforts to provide support mechanisms, training, and economic empowerment.

As she highlighted, this #TheAward is an annual national event aimed at promoting a culture of excellence and creativity in #AlgerianTraditionalHandicrafts, underscoring the commitment to preserving Algeria's national artisan heritage and valuing it, as well as supporting the development of artisans' competitive capabilities across various traditional craft specialties.

Highlighted its objectives, including recognizing authentic, heritage and cultural handicrafts, encouraging artisans and creators to improve the quality and competitiveness of their products, preserving the endangered #TraditionalCraft and passing it on to future generations, showcasing the role of #Handicrafts in local economic development and job creation, as well as supporting innovation and renewal while respecting national cultural particularities.

This and did not miss the opportunity to officially and sincerely express its gratitude to artisans, especially those with disabilities, for their perseverance and effective contributions in enriching this sector.

Then, the awarding ceremonies for the seven winners of the National Award for Traditional Industries and Crafts, across various specialties, took place in a festive atmosphere that reflected the spirit of excellence and recognition for the efforts of artisans and artisans across all regions of the country.

Above all, and as it showcased artisanal fields aligned with market evolution and adopting more accurate and transparent evaluation criteria, it emphasized quality, authenticity, innovation, as well as the aesthetic and functional aspects of the product, while strengthening incentive and recognition mechanisms through awarding honorary prizes and providing promotional support to winners. It also witnessed broad participation from artisans across all regions of the country, with over 620 artisans and artisanal practices from various regions presenting 674 products. These products competed through successive elimination stages that lasted for several months, ultimately resulting in the selection of 42 products for the final stage, leading to the recognition of seven (07) artisans across various craft specialties.

In this connection, the director of the National Award Committee for Traditional Industries and Crafts, and members of the committee, were honored for their effective contributions and efforts in ensuring the success of this edition, and in guaranteeing the integrity and transparency of all evaluation and selection stages.

In closing, regarding the progress of this important meeting for the sector, the #MadamMinister announced the official launch of the digital platform for managing traditional handicrafts and artisanal activities, aimed at supporting digital transformation and simplifying administrative procedures. She highlighted the platform's role in enabling artisans and artisans to register and monitor their activities remotely, participate in national and international demonstrations, access training programs, and enhance information exchange between central administration and local structures.

The #MadamMinister also strengthened the fruitful and positive cooperation existing between her ministry and the Ministry of "Knowledge Economy and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises" as well as the "Training and Vocational Education" ministry, which was demonstrated on the ground through continuous, targeted support provided by their offices to artisans, through training programs focused on product presentation and sales techniques, as well as through support provided to their projects by these sectoral partners in training, financing, and management.

The event concluded in a grand and festive atmosphere, featuring a musical performance by a professional ensemble, alongside a visit to #MadamMinister and her official delegation to the "Handicrafts Exhibition for Award-Winning Artisans," held on the same occasion, in the presence of all guests and participants.
