Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Ms. Madiahi Houri, will organize a field visit to the "Ashra Higher School of Hotel Management and Catering" for the purpose of meeting with her counterpart, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality of the Republic of Zimbabwe, during her official visit to Algeria on July 19 and 20, 2025.

Following the signing of the "Agreement of Understanding in the Field of Tourism" alongside her counterpart, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Ms. Barbra Rudz, during her visit to Algeria as part of the official delegation led by President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, on July 19 and 20, 2025, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Ms. Madiha Chouria, oversaw the proceedings of the "Official Working Visit" scheduled for the official Zimbabwean delegation at "The Higher School of Hotels and Catering – Ashra". This action aligns with the outcomes of this visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including in the tourism sector.

This field visit also stems from this African partner's interest in demonstrating fruitful cooperation with the Algerian side in the fields of "hospitality and cooking," as well as leveraging Algeria's recognized expertise in this regard.

During this visit, Madam Minister highlighted that this "School under the Hotel Investment Institute" has built a solid reputation based on quality, excellence, and professionalism since its establishment, through offering "high-level training programs" and by leveraging modern digitization techniques in its training curricula, aiming to ensure the development of future professionals equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge across various fields related to hospitality, food service, and reception. This includes various certifications, such as a Bachelor's degree in Hotel and Food Management, a Master's in Hotel Management, Accommodation, and Food Service, and an Executive Master's in Business Administration specializing in Hospitality Management, in addition to providing continuous education programs.

Highlights that the Algerian efforts in training the next generation of hospitality and restaurant professionals, as well as investment in this infrastructure, reflect the wise vision of the Algerian government, which fully recognizes the vital role of the hospitality and restaurant sector in our country's economic development and in its efforts to elevate the standards and aspirations of Algerian youth.

Then, the official Zambian delegation conducted a tour of various classrooms and areas of the school, accompanied by the school's pedagogical team, which provided detailed explanations regarding the hotel and catering curricula, as well as the advanced technical facilities supporting practical skill acquisition, training quality, and the diversity of programs offered by the institution "to train a qualified workforce meeting the needs of the tourism and hospitality market".

Thus, the facilities and structures providing an integrated educational and training environment, both theoretical and practical, resembling workspaces, training rooms, equipped kitchens, student club, library, sports complex, accommodation areas, leisure spaces, and laboratories.

On its part, the Zambian Minister praised the high standard of the institution, both in terms of its facilities and infrastructure, as well as its training level, describing it as "an exemplary model for tourism education." She also noted that the Ashra School had previously received significant recognition and acclaim from "UN Tourism - the United Nations World Tourism Organization," which described it as "an exemplary training institution to be emulated in the field of tourism education."

At the end of the visit, Madam Minister reiterated her commitment to studying ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Zimbabwean side and to exchange the best practices between the two in the fields of tourism and hospitality, paving the way for effective African-level partnership.
